ABOUT / CONTACT / COMMISSION BOOK
Hello! I am the person behind SWEET CERISE Fashions designed by Dayle. My husband is Steve. We have a great family of one son, two daughters with families of their own (i.e. grandchildren we love to spoil!). Other beloved family members include a Yorkshire Terrier, Buttercup. We am also blessed with 6 great brothers and sisters and numerous nephews and nieces.
P.S. Don't be fooled by the photo above. I now have snow white hair and have yet to take a recent photo that I approve of.
HISTORY:
More than six decades of sewing experience stand behind the rendering of each costume. In my early sewing years I sat under the tutelage of a seamstress who was trained and plyed her lifelong craft beginning with the Edwardian era.
Other personal interests include reading, gardening, interior decorating, non-fiction stories and downhill and cross-country snow skiing. I am a freelance writer and avid perennial gardener, with a B.A. in communications and course work in botany, geology and wildflowers, and certified as a Master Gardener under The Ohio State University's Horticultural Extension.
Commission book is OPEN. Please read terms and disclosure below:
Most of my designs are made using vintage or antique silks and laces or other fine fabrics I may have available. Many of the vintage and antique lace and textiles used to make these doll fashions are precious and irreplaceable -- some were finely hand-embroidered by skilled hands more than 125 years ago -- a skilled craft long gone and never to be recaptured. The antique pieces are a variety of fibers including silk, linen and cotton. As with anything over a century old, they bear a few aged characteristics, and are inherently delicate. Handle with special care. The antique pieces also can show their age and should also be handled with care. They may consist of silk, rayon, cotton and linen and, in the case of vintage items -- nylon or other synthetic fibers as well. Each doll fashion has been priced taking into consideration the precious nature of each element, with all of the above in mind.
Feel free to contact me about a design or style of gown you are interested in. Commissions start at a base cost of $150, plus shipping. That amount may increase depending upon the style, materials and work involved. You must pay a $25 deposit for each outfit ordered before I begin to cut or sew. The deposit holds your spot open in my commission book, and will be applied toward the balance of your completed commission. Payment is due in full before items are shipped. If you cancel your order, the deposit is nonrefundable. Please email davisdayle@gmail.com to add your name to my commission book. Thank you!
